Orthopedic Spine Surgeon (SA197440) Birmingham, Alabama This Birmingham Health System is seeking a Board certified/board eligible Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. Job features include the following. 10 physicians in group, 9 ortho, 1 rheumatology Immediate need I year path to partnership minimal buy in $400K to start, $600 - $700K in third year 14 days of vacation first year, then don’t dictate 401K Medical, dental, vision at no cost first year, then partnership pays Life, Short term disability, long term disability Need spine, must be able to take call No visas MD or DO, prefer American trained Have multiple locations, Help each other out, have your back Good ancillaries, PT is most profitable in state: 16 years’ old, a profit center Treated like a partner from the beginning Large city, no limit to the number of patients or cap like a smaller town Partners are physician extenders, first assist fees are 20% of total for helping as first assist Very efficient practice, low overhead, pay for what you get, provide you with what you need, see all accounting on a dashboard Most surgical cases are elective 600 patient visits per month, 70 80 per week, 120 per week is busy ORS based EMR: Xscribe Digital x ray with u-arm Each person decides what payor mix they want: 50% Blue Cross, 20% Medicare, 10% workers’ comp 60% office, 40% OR 5 half day clinics, rest is OR time: 1.5 days per week Easy call burden: 1 2 night per month for unattached call; 1:4 on weekends with the OrthoSports physicians who work at St. Vincent’s Birmingham Office call every other week ER call 4 days per week, paid for call Not level one trauma, mostly ambulatory injuries Call is infrequent and easy Lifestyle is good and a lot of free time This health system is part of the nation’s largest non-profit health system and the largest Catholic health system in the world, operating 2,500 sites of care including 141 hospitals and more than 30 senior living facilities in 24 states and the District of Columbia.
