### Locums | General Surgery | Hazard, KY (KY License or IMLC) ### Why This Role * Ongoing general surgery call coverage * Multiple extended coverage blocks available * Temporary privileges available * Level IV trauma environment * APP and office support provided ### Assignment Details * Location: Hazard, Kentucky * Start Date: October 23, 2026 * End Date: Ongoing * Coverage Type: Call only * Call Type: Beeper call * Response Time: 30 minutes * Setting: Inpatient * EMR: MediTech * Credentialing: Approximately 30 days * Temporary Privileges: Available * Patient Volume: Approximately 10–15 patients per shift * Estimated Call Activity: Approximately 10 phone consultations and 10 patients seen * Callback Rate: Approximately 20% * APP Supervision: Required ### Coverage Dates * October 23 at 7:00 AM–October 26 at 7:00 AM * October 29 at 7:00 AM–November 2 at 7:00 AM * November 26 at 7:00 AM–November 30 at 7:00 AM * December 24 at 7:00 AM–January 3 at 7:00 AM * Additional ongoing dates may become available ### Requirements * Board-certified General Surgeon * Active Kentucky medical license or IMLC eligibility * Active BLS and ACLS certifications * Experience providing adult, pediatric, neonatal, and trauma surgery * Ability to perform independently while supervising an APP * Experience with emergency general surgery, including: * Bowel resections * Perforations * Incision and drainage of abscesses * Wound care * Trauma cases * Laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and Nissen fundoplication * Head and neck, breast, chest wall, pleural, liver, vascular, and plastic surgery * Upper and lower GI endoscopy, including colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy * Chest tube, central line, PA catheter, and vascular-access placement * Ventilator management * Laser certification * Required OB/GYN procedures, including cesarean section, D&C, and hysterectomy * Required pediatric surgical capabilities, including congenital and abdominal-wall conditions ### Clinical Details * 99-bed hospital * Level IV trauma designation * Coverage for assigned patients * Support includes one APP and one office staff member * No resident or teaching responsibilities
