We are seeking experienced Trauma & Acute Care Surgeons to join an established surgical team at a 495-bed Level II Trauma Center in Amarillo, Texas. This opportunity offers high-acuity trauma and acute care surgery, established patient volume, predictable coverage expectations, and strong support from experienced APPs and multidisciplinary teams.

Schedule

  • 24-hour shifts
  • Approximately 151 shifts per year (12–13 shifts per month)
  • Additional backup-only shifts available

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $544,000 annually
  • Backup-only shifts: $500/night
  • Trauma Medical Director stipend: $80,000 annually

Responsibilities

  • Provide operative and non-operative Trauma and Acute Care Surgery services
  • Provide ICU care for critically injured and medically complex patients
  • Lead trauma activations and manage emergency surgical cases
  • Participate in ACS services and inpatient consultations
  • Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship preferred
  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure
  • Previous trauma or high-acuity surgical experience preferred
