Job Requirements

• Board certification in General Surgery required
• At least 1 year of general surgery experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Strong experience with a broad range of general surgery procedures
• Ability to manage adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Comfort working in trauma surgery and high-acuity surgical cases
• Experience with laparoscopic and open surgical procedures
• Willingness to support a dynamic, collaborative care team

Responsibilities

• Provide general surgery coverage for scheduled locum tenens dates
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with urgent and emergent surgical needs
• Perform common general surgery procedures, including bowel resection, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and wound care
• Manage emergency general surgery and trauma cases, including perforations and abscess incision and drainage
• Support a wide range of operative procedures across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations
• Perform additional surgical services as needed, including chest tube insertion, central line placement, PA catheter placement, and laparoscopic procedures
• Provide coverage for specialty areas such as vascular surgery, breast surgery, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery, and gynecologic surgery when needed
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and operating room teams to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care
