Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician to provide call coverage in Ogden, Utah. This opportunity requires a physician experienced in both cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and comfortable practicing in a Level II Trauma Center.

Position Highlights

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage
• Trauma Designation: Level II Trauma Center
• EMR: Meditech
• Patient Volume: Approximately 10–12 patients per week
• Consults: Approximately 3–5 consults per week
• Surgical Volume: Approximately 1–3 surgeries per week
  • Typically 1 cardiac case
  • Typically 2–3 thoracic cases
• Annual Cardiac Volume: Approximately 80 heart cases per year
• Hospital-provided vein harvest team

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
• Evaluate and manage cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients
• Perform cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures as needed
• Respond to consultations and provide surgical recommendations
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care
• Collaborate with hospital staff and the surgical care team
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in Meditech

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery
• Active Utah medical license required
• Active Utah DEA required
• Experience performing both cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
• Comfortable providing independent call coverage in a Level II Trauma Center
