Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician to provide hospital-based coverage in Paducah, Kentucky. This opportunity involves adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and management of high-acuity patients.
Assignment Details
- Practice Setting: Hospital-based
- Shift Type: 24-hour shifts
- Schedule: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Call: Required
- Average CT Surgical Cases: 1–2 per day
- Annual ER Volume: Approximately 30,000
Open Dates
Candidates must be available for one of the following coverage blocks:
- December 24–December 28 – Preferred coverage dates; candidates with this availability will be prioritized
- December 28–January 4
Responsibilities
The physician will provide coverage for a range of cardiothoracic surgical and critical care needs, including:
Adult Cardiac Surgery
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Arterial revascularization using internal mammary and radial arteries
- Redo cardiac surgery cases
- Heart valve repair and replacement procedures
General Thoracic Surgery
- Tube thoracostomy
- Tracheostomy
- Bronchoscopy
- VATS procedures, including decortication and lung biopsy
- Pericardial window procedures
Critical Care & ICU Management
- Management of high-risk and critically ill cardiothoracic surgery patients
- Impella insertion, removal, and bailout procedures
- Medical management of critically ill patients in the ICU
Requirements
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active Kentucky medical license
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and high-acuity ICU management
