LECOM Health is seeking a General Surgeon to join a collaborative, forward-thinking practice in Erie, PA. LECOM Health is the only Osteopathic Academic Health Center in the country to include a medical school with four campuses across three states. In Western Pennsylvania, LECOM Health operates two hospitals — LECOM Medical Center, an acute care teaching hospital in Erie offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and 24-hour emergency care, and Corry Memorial Hospital, a state-of-the-art community medical center in Corry, PA — along with a brand-new Ambulatory Surgery Center.

LECOM Health Surgical Specialists is a close-knit, provider-based clinical practice currently made up of two general surgeons and dedicated support staff, working together to grow the Surgical Services line into a premier regional program with a strong emphasis on education, research, clinical care, and community service. LECOM fosters a dynamic, high-energy work environment with strong opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Job Responsibilities

Provide general surgical care across LECOM Medical Center, Corry Memorial Hospital, and LECOM's Ambulatory Surgery Center
Deliver patient-centered care to residents of Northwest Pennsylvania and surrounding areas
Collaborate with a two-surgeon team and support staff to help build and grow the Surgical Services program
Contribute to the practice's emphasis on education, research, and community service as part of an academic health center

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
New graduates welcome and encouraged to apply
Strong interest in patient-centered care and program-building in a collaborative, academic-affiliated setting

Working Hours

Full or Part Time - specific schedule/call structure determined with current surgical team

Skills

Proficiency in general surgical procedures (e.g., laparoscopic and open abdominal surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder, appendix, and soft tissue procedures)
Strong clinical decision-making and pre/post-operative patient management
Ability to work across multiple facilities and care settings (acute care hospital, community hospital, ambulatory surgery center)
Effective collaboration within a small, close-knit surgical team
Commitment to patient-centered, community-focused care
Interest in mentoring, teaching, or contributing to an academic training environment
Strong communication skills for coordinating with referring physicians and multidisciplinary staff
Adaptability to a growing program, including willingness to help shape protocols and service line development
