Position Overview (
One of our Partners is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in a high-acuity hospital setting with a structured cardiac surgery program.
This assignment offers a balanced mix of clinic, procedures, and call, with strong support staff and consistent scheduling.
Provider Pay Ranking: Top ~10% of cardiothoracic surgery locum roles (2026 market data)
$420 / Hour
Assignment Highlights
- 1–2 weeks per month coverage
- Combination of clinic, OR, and call responsibilities
- Schedule includes:
- Clinic: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Night Call: 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- 24-Hour Call: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
- Established cardiac surgery program
- ~9 surgeries per week
- Structural heart program (TAVR cases)
- APP support onsite
- EMR: Epic
- Travel reimbursed per policy
- Malpractice insurance covered
- HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission–certified agency
Job Responsibilities
- Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Manage pre- and post-operative cardiac patients
- Conduct clinic visits and consults
- Participate in call coverage
- Collaborate with cardiac team and APP support
- Document care in Epic
Clinical Scope
- Cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- TAVR / structural heart workflow
- ICU rounding and post-op care
- Clinic-based cardiac surgical consults
