Position Overview
One of our Partners is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity providing 24-hour call coverage.
This assignment offers flexible scheduling, focused inpatient call responsibilities, and predictable coverage blocks, making it ideal for surgeons seeking call-based work without clinic requirements.
Provider Pay Ranking: Top ~10–15% of general surgery call roles (2026 market data)
Assignment Highlights
- 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
- Flexible scheduling:
- Up to 1 week at a time
- Primarily weekend coverage
- ~0.5 FTE coverage need
- No outpatient clinic responsibilities
- Hospital-based call only
- EMR: Epic
- Travel reimbursed per policy
- Malpractice insurance covered

Typical Work Expectations
- 24-hour general surgery call coverage
- Inpatient consults and emergency cases
- OR procedures as needed during call
- Rounding on surgical patients
- Coordination with hospital care teams
Job Responsibilities

- Evaluate and manage surgical consults
- Perform emergent surgical procedures
- Round on admitted surgical patients
- Collaborate with hospital staff and specialists
- Document care in Epic
