Job description
A leading 495-bed acute care hospital in West Texas is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Physicians to join a high-volume, well-supported surgical program. This Level II Trauma Center is expanding services and will support a new surgical residency program launching July 2026, offering a strong academic and clinical environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for surgeons seeking a balanced, shift-based schedule with competitive compensation and exposure to a diverse trauma and acute care caseload.
Program Highlights:
- Level II Trauma Center
- 495-bed full-service acute care hospital
Anticipated Annual Volumes:
- Trauma Activations: 1,618
- Trauma Admissions: 1,006
Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Operative Volume: 473
- Active development of a residency training program (launching July 2026)
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary care model with strong hospital support
Schedule & Coverage Model:
- Total Annual Shifts: 151 (approx. 12–13 shifts/month)
- Trauma Coverage: 91 in-house days per year
- ACS/Backup Coverage: 60 shifts annually
- 12-hour ACS coverage + 12-hour backup
- 30-minute call-back response time
- Optional backup shifts available (~125 annually)

Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery preferred
- Eligible for or active Texas medical licensure
- ATLS certification required
- Demonstrated experience in trauma and acute care surgery
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
