Are you an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon seeking an engaging and impactful temporary opportunity? Our hospital is actively seeking a dedicated Locum Physician to join our prestigious Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This pivotal role offers a unique chance to contribute to a Level I Trauma center, providing exceptional care to adult patients in a dynamic hospital environment. With a start date of May 1, 2026, this position promises a rewarding experience, balancing professional excellence with excellent support and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform adult cardiac surgeries, including CABG, heart valve repair/replacement, and thoracic procedures such as lung biopsies and resections.
- Participate in night call and weekend coverage, primarily from Friday evening through Monday morning, with an allocated one week of call per month.
- Operate in a hospital-based setting utilizing Epic EMR, with access to two dedicated CV Surgery ORs during daytime hours.
- Manage an average of approximately one case per weekend, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Required Skills:
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Proven experience in adult cardiac and thoracic procedures.
- Ability to handle complex surgical cases with precision and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to the hospital’s workflow and EMR systems.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in trauma or emergency surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with advanced surgical technologies.
- Prior work in a Level I Trauma setting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-training surgical experience.
- Previous locum or hospital-based experience is advantageous.
Other Requirements:
- Active medical license in Michigan or eligibility for licensure.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Travel arrangements covered, including flights, hotel, and rental car or mileage reimbursements at IRS standard rates.
- Credentialing process estimated to take approximately 90 days.
