Job Title: General Surgeon
Join a dedicated team at a community-based hospital in Brattleboro, Vermont! This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to deliver comprehensive surgical care as part of a collaborative medical group. With a focus on inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and wound care services, you'll be supported by a close-knit professional environment dedicated to patient-centered care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive surgical care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.
- Perform common general surgical procedures including:
- Hernia repair
- Cholecystectomy
- Endoscopy
- Appendectomy
- Management of small bowel obstruction
- Colorectal surgery
- Skin and soft tissue surgical procedures
- Deliver evaluation and management of acute and chronic wounds within a multidisciplinary Wound Clinic model.
- Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of surgical conditions.
- Exercise advanced operative skills and strong clinical judgement.
- Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, physician assistants, and other clinical teams.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care plans.
- Review diagnostic test results and address abnormalities.
- Offer surgical input for palliative care, pain management, and end-of-life decision support.
- Participate in departmental meetings and engage in ongoing professional development activities.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA Category I standards.
Qualifications:
- Board certified or Board eligible in General Surgery.
- Complete residency in General Surgery.
- MD or DO Degree from an accredited medical school.
- Active Vermont Medical License.
- DEA (must be obtained prior to start).
- CPR for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Proficiency in surgical techniques and procedures.
- Clean malpractice history.
License and Certification Requirements:
