Locums Opportunity – Pendleton, Oregon
General Surgery | Acute Care & Clinic Setting
A healthcare facility in Pendleton, Oregon is seeking General Surgery locum tenens coverage due to retirement. This is a high-volume, well-supported practice offering a mix of clinic, OR, and call responsibilities. Coverage will be shared by a small group of surgeons, providing continuity and collaboration.
Coverage Dates: Start: 7/1/26
Duration: up to 1 year
1 General Surgeon working at a time
Will attend to scheduled clinic patients Monday thru Friday 8a-5p
Provide 24-hour call coverage and provide post-op care, consultations scheduled and emergency surgery
Typical Weekly Schedule (From Site)
Monday
Clinic: 8:00am–5:00pm (14–16 patients)
On call during clinic hours and 5:00pm–7:30am next day
Tuesday
OR: 7:30am–12:00pm
Clinic: 1:00pm–5:00pm (10–12 patients)
On call during work hours and 5:00pm–7:30am next day
Wednesday
OR: 7:30am–4:00pm
On call during work hours and 4:00pm–7:30am next day
Thursday
OR: 7:30am–12:00pm
Clinic: 1:00pm–5:00pm (10–12 patients)
On call during work hours and 5:00pm–7:30am next day
Friday
OR: 7:30am–4:00pm
On call during work hours and 4:00pm–7:30am next day
Saturday
On call from 7:30am Saturday to 7:30am Sunday
Sunday
On call from 7:30am Sunday to 5:30am Monday
All handoffs occur at 5:30am to the sole remaining general surgeon in Pendleton
Practice Details
- Setting: Acute care and clinic practice
- Duties: Clinic, OR, call coverage, and ability to respond to ED traumas
- Days per month: Approximately 20 days covered by the same two to three surgeons
- Reason for coverage: Retirement
- Approximately 500 surgeries per year (10 per week)
- 75% outpatient
- Inpatient admissions: 2 per week
- Clinic patients per day: 14–16
- Diagnostic Colonoscopies
- Screening Colonoscopies
- Diagnostic EGD
- Cholecystectomy
- Appendectomy
- Hernia repair with mesh
- Repair abdominal wall with synthetic substitute
- Excision of breast
- Skin excision
- Hemorrhoidectomy
- EMR: Meditech (hospital) and eCW (clinic)
- Support Staff: Complete hospital staff and clinic support with medical assistants and RNs as needed
- Board Certified: Required
- Active OR State License: Required
- Residency/Fellowship: Required
