Job Responsibilities
• Manage emergency surgical consults and trauma cases as needed
• Perform surgical interventions as clinically indicated
• Admit patients and oversee inpatient surgical care
• Complete assigned rounding and ongoing patient management
• Coordinate with ED, hospitalists, anesthesia, and specialty teams
• Provide outpatient surgical coverage as needed based on case flow
Qualifications
• Board Eligible accepted
• Fellowship training required
• Proven ability to manage inpatient and outpatient coverage
• Must be comfortable handling admissions and assigned rounding responsibilities
• Ability to provide consistent call coverage blocks as scheduled
Working Hours
• Call only coverage model (In-house call)
• Alternating month schedule requirement includes:
• Month 1: 10 consecutive days of call coverage (includes 2 weekends + full week stretch)
• Month 2: Extended long weekend block (Thursday/Friday through Tuesday morning)
Skills
• Trauma coverage experience highly preferred
• Comfortable managing admissions and inpatient rounding
• Ability to support outpatient follow ups as needed
• Strong decision making in urgent and emergent surgical cases
• GI coverage experience strongly preferred
• ERCP capability is a major competitive advantage
