JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: General Surgeon
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Baker City, OR
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: March 1, 2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 5:00p
COVERAGE DATES
• Ongoing coverage beginning March 1, 2026
• Minimum commitment of 2 weeks per month (weeks do not need to be consecutive)
• Coverage weeks must be Monday through Friday
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: Surgical case days average 2–5 cases per day
• Admissions: Yes, based on surgical cases
• Rounding: Included as clinically appropriate
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: General surgery with significant endoscopy volume (upper and lower scopes)
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Trauma Level: Critical Access Hospital
• Office Equipment Available: Standard OR and clinic equipment
• Support Staff Available: RNs and OR staff
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Upper endoscopy (EGD)
• Lower endoscopy (colonoscopy)
• General surgical procedures consistent with critical access setting
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Oregon medical license
• Board: Board Certified in Surgery
• DEA: Active DEA required
• Certifications: As required for general surgery privileges
• Experience: General surgery experience including endoscopy
• Other Qualifications: Ability to support program rebuild with initially lower volumes
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform general surgery procedures in the operating room
• Perform upper and lower endoscopic procedures as a significant portion of volume
• Evaluate and treat clinic patients on scheduled clinic days
• Participate in patient admissions, rounding, and follow-up care
• Collaborate with hospital staff to reestablish and grow surgical services
