Position Overview
One of our Partners in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide inpatient call coverage for a defined weekend block from April 25–27, 2026. This assignment is call-only, with no requirement to remain on site while on call, and focuses on managing urgent and emergent general surgery needs.
This is a low-volume, well-supported environment with clear escalation pathways, including Air and Ground transport for higher-acuity transfers.
Provider Pay Ranking: Top 20–25% nationally for locum tenens general surgery call coverage, based on 2025–2026 market data for short-term call-only assignments in rural/community hospitals.

Shift Type: Continuous call coverage (nights & weekend included)
New providers should plan to arrive the day before the first shift or the morning of the first shift, per facility onboarding requirements.
Job Responsibilities

Provide inpatient general surgery call coverage

Evaluate and manage surgical admissions and consults

Perform emergent and urgent general surgery procedures

Round on admitted surgical patients as needed

Coordinate care with ICU, ED, and hospitalist teams

Skills & Experience

Board Certified in General Surgery

Comfortable managing emergency general surgery cases

Experience in community or rural hospital settings preferred
