- Other details: The facility which is trauma level 4 is looking for a provider to cover beeper call only. This opportunity is for a general surgery provider to cover call-only shifts in an inpatient and emergency department setting, managing unassigned ED patients during 24-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. The provider will see an average of 0–3 patients per day depending on call volume, receive approximately 2–4 calls per shift, handle mostly phone consults with an average of four encounters per 24 hours, and may be called back 0–2 times, with rounding typically taking less than four hours and only required if their own patients are admitted. Coverage involves surgery only with no endoscopy, and the provider may consult on inpatients while serving strictly as a consultant due to full hospitalist and ICU attending coverage. Support is provided by in-house general surgery PAs. Candidates should be board certified unless within five years of training, preferably hold an active license, and temporary privileges are available. Local candidates are strongly preferred, and coverage dates will align with select upcoming holiday weekends.
