Job description
We are seeking an experienced Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician to provide hospital-based coverage at a Level I Trauma Center in Hartford, Connecticut. This position offers a diverse and complex case mix with full inpatient responsibilities across the OR, ICU, ER, and hospital floors.
Compensation: $2800 Per Day
Position Details
- Practice Setting: Hospital-based (Inpatient, OR, ICU, ER, and floor rounding)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM
- Call Coverage:
- Nights and weekends (rotational)
- Approximately 7–8 calls per month
- Call shared among 3 providers
- Average Volume: ~2 cases per day
- Trauma Designation: Level I Trauma Center
- Annual ER Volume: Approximately 85,000 visits
Required Procedures
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), including Off-Pump CABG
- Arterial Revascularization (Internal Mammary, Radial, and Gastroepiploic Arteries)
- Redo Coronary Revascularization
- Descending and Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Heart Valve Repair and Replacement
- Mitral Valve Repair
- CoreValve® System procedures
- Tube Thoracostomy
- Pericardial Window
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care across inpatient units
- Perform operative cases and manage postoperative patients
- Provide ICU coverage and rounding on ER and floor patients
- Participate in night and weekend call coverage as scheduled
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity environment
Requirements
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active Connecticut medical license
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center preferred
