Position Overview
One of our Partners in North Carolina, is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon to provide locum tenens call coverage. This Level II community trauma hospital offers a collegial surgical environment with a well-supported team of five neurosurgeons.
The provider will handle 24-hour pager call one weekend each month and assist with selected holiday coverage periods, including March 27 – April 5 (Spring Break) and Christmas week.
All travel and lodging are prepaid by HPA Healthcare.
Pay Ranking: Top 25 % nationally for 2025 neurosurgery call coverage
Assignment Highlights

Schedule: 7:00 a – 7:00 a (24-hour pager call)

Frequency: One weekend per month + holiday blocks (Spring Break & Christmas)

Call Type: Pager call — on-site presence not required unless called in

Job Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour neurosurgery call coverage for ED and inpatient consults

Manage emergent cranial and spine cases within general neurosurgery scope

Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and trauma teams for patient transfers and care

Respond promptly to ED consults and pages (? 20-minute response window)

Perform surgical interventions as indicated and document accurately in Epic

Maintain clear communication with staff and referring providers
Skills & Experience
-
Board Certification in Neurosurgery (ABNS) required

Active North Carolina medical license required (IMLC not accepted)

Minimum 2 years post-training experience

Proficient in cranial and spinal procedures

Comfortable working independently in a community setting

Strong team orientation and communication skills
