General Surgery Locum Tenens Opportunity in S.Western North Dakota!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking two General Surgery locum tenens providers for a facility in Southwestern North Dakota to cover 10 days of 24-hour call per month starting December 2025 and continuing on an ongoing basis. This is a call-only position (no clinic required) with a flexible schedule that can accommodate the locum providers’ availability. Candidates in the process of obtaining or holding an IMLC license are welcome to apply.

Dates / Schedule

• Start Date: December 2025

• Duration: Ongoing

• Schedule: 10 days per month of 24-hour call coverage

• Call Response Time: 20 minutes

• Call Only: No clinic required

• Average Callback Hours: 3.4 per 24-hour shift

• Privileging Time: 30 days (temporary privileges available)

Job Details / Responsibilities

• Setting: Critical Access Hospital, Level IV Trauma Center

• Hospital Beds: 25

• Average Daily Census: 15 patients

• Average General Surgery Cases Per 24 hrs: 0–5

• Responsibilities:

  • Phone consults

  • Admissions

  • Rounding on general surgery patients only

  • Emergent surgeries (24/7 availability)

  • No supervision of APPs

• Anesthesia Coverage: CRNA group

• Required Procedures:

  • Abdominal

  • Endoscopy

  • Liver, stomach, gallbladder, appendix

  • Colon

  • Laparoscopy

  • Spleen

• Preferred (Not Required) Procedures:

  • Pediatrics

  • Thyroid

  • Pulmonary

  • Vascular

• Not Required:

  • Amputations

  • C-sections

  • Hysterectomies

  • Respiratory care
    

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certification: Required (BE accepted within 3 years of residency)

• Licensure: Active ND medical license or IMLC (in-process accepted)

• Certifications:

  • ACLS

  • BLS

  • ND DEA (required)

• Other Requirements:

  • Clean malpractice and legal history preferred

  • No current monitoring agreements, revoked licenses, or privileges

  • Completed application must be submitted within 7 days

  • Background check and 12-panel drug screening required after offer

  • Disclose any prior work at CHI/Dignity facilities

  • Payor enrollment required prior to starting
