Join Our Team as a Locum Orthopedic Surgeon – Join the Prestigious St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, WA

Are you an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon seeking a rewarding locum opportunity in a vibrant hospital setting? St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma is looking for a dedicated Locum Physician to provide exceptional orthopedic surgical care at our Level II Trauma Center. This crucial role offers flexibility, competitive pay, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient lives while working in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Become a vital part of our surgical team, covering hospital and outpatient clinic duties, including trauma cases, outpatient clinics, and ER support. Your expertise will help ensure continuous, high-quality care for our diverse patient population.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Level II trauma orthopedic surgery
  • WA medical license (or eligible for licensure)
  • Proficiency in a full spectrum of orthopedic procedures excluding complex pelvic surgeries
  • Ability to operate effectively in a hospital and outpatient setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • EMR proficiency (EPIC preferred)

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Trauma experience without fellowship training (acceptable if credentialed)
  • Previous experience working in a Level II Trauma Center
  • Experience with ER coverage and on-call duties
  • Ability to handle a variable caseload and diverse case types

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
  • At least five years of hands-on trauma experience in a hospital setting
  • Competency in managing a high patient volume with diverse orthopedic cases

Other Requirements:
  • WA state medical license (for November coverage dates)
  • Willingness to work 2 weeks per month, including holiday and night call coverage
  • Ability to start within 60-90 days
  • Flexibility for travel and accommodation arrangements as needed
  • Credentialing within our system prior to start date

Hourly pay rate of $18.72 with comprehensive compensation including malpractice coverage, orientation, holiday, night call, on-call, and callback pay rates. The role is ideal for professionals committed to providing exceptional orthopedic care in a dynamic hospital environment.
