Build a High-Quality Elective Surgery Practice | General Surgery in Western Upstate New York

  • Western upstate New York health system is seeking an experienced and collaborative General Surgeon to join their team.
  • In this role, you will help develop and expand a broad-based general surgery practice with a strong emphasis on elective procedures. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient surgical care, admissions, consultative services — including support in the Emergency Department as needed — and office-based management of new and follow-up patients.
  • They are looking for a collaborative, clinically excellent physician who is passionate about patient care and shaping the future of surgical training.

Clinical Duties

  • Develop and run a high quality clinical general surgery practice in conjunction with the existing general surgeons. This will include inpatient and outpatient practice as well as emergent, urgent and elective patient care.
  • Provide general surgical services, including consultative coverage in the Emergency Department (ED), and inpatient units throughout the hospital.
  • General Surgery call 1:4
  • Maintain prompt offsite availability when on call (responding within 20 minutes).
  • Provide structured mentorship and enhance the training experience for PAs and midlevel providers.

Administrative Oversight

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of PA education programs.
  • Ensure programs align with institutional goals and meet regulatory and accreditation standards

What You Bring

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification or Eligibility in General Surgery
  • Eligible for New York State Medical Licensure
  • Strong clinical expertise in general surgery and trauma care
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in teaching and mentoring
