Bon Secours Mercy Health Springfield Medical Center is looking for locum Gastroenterology coverage for 2024!
Open dates:
- 1 week/month (which includes call), starting ASAP
- June - rest of the year, potential to move into 2025
- Practice Setting: Outpatient hospital based
- Schedule:7-day call coverage and procedural time and 3 days of additional procedural time. Total of 10 days a month.
- Clinical Areas: Adult, Hospital, Gastro
- Onsite Labs & X-Ray
- Outpatient Gastroenterology
- Outpatient setting is at the hospital, outpatient scopes Monday through Friday with outpatient scopes starting at 9 to allow for on call cases to be completed prior (7-9). This can be adjusted, if need be, to allow more or less time for add ons.
- Outpatient scopes average 7-9 per day along with inpatient rounding.
- Inpatient referrals daily during call coverage. Average of 4-5 new consults per day while on call.
- Average Number of Office/Clinic Patients Per Locum Per Day: Procedural scope per day 1-8
- Average Number of Patients Per Day: 1-15
- Average Number of Hospital Based Patients Per Locum Per Day: 1-15
- Number of Physicians in Group: 1.5 and 2 APC
- Around 40-50 procedures during the 10 day period
- Documentation System/EMR: EPIC
- Small Bowel Biopsy
- Lower GI Endoscopy
- Sigmoidoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- GI Endoscopy with Biopsy, with Foreign Body Removal, with Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery vs. Laser), Diagnostic, Therapeutic, with Injection of Varices, with Banding of Varices, with PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
Looking for a clean file to accommodate current urgent need. Could lead to 12 month contract. This position is open to meet a tremendous need in a community/region. There are 2 employed physicians strong mentorship available. It is a 254-bed hospital with Hospitalist Program for admissions, with a free-standing outpatient surgery center. Endoscopy is performed with choice of either MAC (with CRNAs) or conscious sedation by the endoscopist whichever is preferred. The latest Olympus scopes are used and the endoscopy software (MD Reports) is automatically linked to EPIC. Gold Probe, APC, EMR support and Fibroscan are available. Two endoscopy suites with experienced staff.
