**General Surgery Opening in Virginia** - Located in Norton, VA - Kingsport 45m, Abingdon 50m - Full-time, permanent position ***General bread & butter surgery experience and advanced laparoscopic skills required. Minimally invasive skills a plus.*** ***If board-eligible, board certification must be completed within five years of completion of residency for all candidates.*** Our goal is to find a general surgeon who shares the same philosophy as us in being able to accommodate our patients at home and not transfer them out of the area for their care. The hospital has expressed a large amount of flexibility to fit the needs of the new physician. A 129-bed facility, one of 22 facilities for Health system, is seeking a qualified General Surgeon to serve its patient population. The draw area serves a population of 75,000 to 100,000 which includes southwestern Virginia and southeastern Kentucky. There is a local 10-physician primary care network to supply patient referrals. This expansive service area of Southwest Virginia and Southeastern Kentucky holds huge potential. It is the largest healthcare facility in the far southwest Virginia region. Hospital was the first AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited teaching facility in the state of Virginia, and hosts residents in Internal Medicine. The hospital operates several primary care clinics throughout the region as well as an OSHA certified pulmonary rehabilitation facility which diagnoses and treats coal mine related pneumoconiosis and other severe respiratory problems.
