JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician – Surgical Critical Care
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Flagstaff, AZ
• Service Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Surgical ICU
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: August 9 – September 23, 2025
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Nights, 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM

SHIFT SCHEDULE
- Aug 9-13, 17-19, 23-25, 29-31
- Sep 5-21, 23

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: All ages, including pediatrics
• Patient Volume/Census: SICU and trauma patients, includes floor and step-down care
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Yes
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: Trauma, general surgery, surgical ICU

FACILITY INFORMATION
• No. of Beds in Department: 10-bed SICU
• Trauma Level: Level I or II
• EMR System: Documentation must be done independently (specific EMR not listed)
• Office Equipment Available: Standard hospital equipment
• Specialty Backup Available: Acute Care Surgeon (daytime only)
• Support Staff Available: Nurse Practitioners
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental night coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Rate: TBD
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Surgical ICU patient care
• Trauma patient care on floor and step-down
• Independent documentation

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active AZ license and DEA required
• Certifications: ATLS required
• Experience: Level I or II trauma experience required
• Other Qualifications: BE/BC in General Surgery with Surgical Critical Care fellowship; must work well with NPs and manage pediatric patients

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide night coverage in SICU, trauma floor, and step-down unit
• Manage critically ill surgical and trauma patients
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners
• Independently document all clinical notes
• Ensure high-quality care in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary setting
