Build a Legacy! Chief, Section of Colorectal Surgery
The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic colorectal surgeon to be the Section Chief of Colorectal Surgery and Associate/Full Professor of Surgery.

The Opportunity
• Summary of the ideal candidate: Triple threat; a great scientist, a great surgeon, and a great educator.
• Reporting to Ajay Maker, MD, Chief for the Division of Surgical Oncology, the Section Chief of Colorectal Surgery leads all clinical, academic, research, and administrative activities in the Section of Colorectal Surgery. This includes leading a team of nationally recognized surgeons and healthcare professionals, promoting innovative surgical techniques, advancing research in malignant and benign colorectal surgery, and providing exceptional patient care. The selected candidate will also collaborate with other departments and divisions to promote interdisciplinary approaches to patient care, research, and education.
• Primary Location: UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
• This role represents a blend of both Administrative and Clinical/Surgical responsibly.

Qualifications

Critical Candidate Credentials & Experiences
• Board Certified.
o American Board of General Surgery and have completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
or
o Complex General Surgical Oncology with a dedicated fellowship in colorectal surgery.
• History of achievement with all the following:
o Program development (strategic growth).
o Program leadership (administrative oversight of personnel & facilities).
o National reputation and rigor for clinical excellence and scholarship in colorectal disease, including prominent publication.
 Research interest, with record of productivity.
 Academic interest, with record of achievement.
