Multi-Specialty Research Hospital

The Department of Surgery, Division of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an academic faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join the clinical practice. The incumbent will have a mix of general surgery, colorectal surgery (both oncologic and benign), and flexible endoscopy. Qualified individuals must have completed a general surgery residency, colorectal fellowship training, and be eligible for a Texas medical license and American Board of Surgery certification.

In South Texas, the Division is a busy elective group practice with a strong focus on patient experience and clinical quality outcomes. Faculty care for patients and operate at University Hospital (UH), a Level 1 trauma and tertiary referral center, and in multiple hospital systems including Christus Health and a physician-owned private surgical hospital, Foundation Surgical Hospital, (FSH). The Division is hiring due to growth as well as the need to staff new facilities including the Multi-Specialty Research Hospital (MSRH). The incoming candidate will share duties across work sites for variety. The position will include participation in emergency general surgery call rotation in the Christus system and cross coverage for our division surgeons at UH, MSRH, and FSH. Demonstrated interest and competence in teaching is essential. The Division provides midlevel support and faculty participate in medical student and resident education and training at all locations.
