Build consistent 2027 coverage into your schedule with an established cardiac surgery program in Central Georgia
A 310-bed regional medical center in Macon, Georgia is adding Cardiothoracic Surgery locums coverage beginning January 2027. This assignment offers a balanced mix of clinic, operative cases and weekend call with three experienced APPs supporting the service and sharing the weekend call schedule.
Offers an easy-to-reach Central Georgia location approximately 90 minutes south of Atlanta, with a lower-key pace and convenient access to one of the Southeast's largest airports.
Assignment Highlights
- Start: January 2027
- Ongoing coverage need
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Approximately 2 weekends of call per month
- Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 8:00 AM
- Established 310-bed medical center
- Approximately 4–6 cardiac cases per week
- Manageable clinic volume of 5–10 patients per day
- 3 APPs on site supporting the service and sharing weekend call
- Adult patient population
- IMLC physicians considered for Georgia licensure
- Approximately 120-day credentialing timeframe
Clinical Scope
Surgeons should be comfortable independently managing a broad cardiothoracic surgical caseload, including:
- Open-heart surgery
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Aortic disease and surgery
- General thoracic and cardiovascular surgical cases
- Clinic and postoperative patient management
Requirements
- Cardiothoracic Surgery training/certification
- Training through an accredited American thoracic and cardiovascular surgery program
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Active DEA
- Georgia license or eligibility through IMLC
