An exciting opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a well-established surgical team in Erie, Pennsylvania. This role offers the chance to work in a high-acuity inpatient setting, managing complex cardiothoracic cases while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes. 🫀

🏥 Position Overview

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician will provide comprehensive surgical and inpatient care, including advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures, patient management, and participation in a structured call schedule.

This position is ideal for a physician experienced in complex cardiac surgeries and thoracic procedures who is comfortable working in a collaborative hospital environment.

⏰ Schedule

🕒 Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
📅 Call Rotation:
• Approximately 1:2 weeknight call
• Every other weekend call + rounding
• Weekend call providers will cover Wednesday/Thursday call the following week
• Opposite provider covers Monday/Tuesday and Friday–Sunday (rotating weekly)

🔑 Key Responsibilities

✨ Perform a variety of cardiothoracic surgical procedures
✨ Provide inpatient surgical care and consultations
✨ Participate in call coverage and weekend rounding
✨ Collaborate with cardiology, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary teams
✨ Deliver high-quality preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
✨ Utilize advanced surgical techniques and evidence-based practices

🩺 Types of Cases

The surgeon will manage a wide range of cardiac and thoracic procedures, including:

✔ Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
✔ Aortic and Mitral Valve Replacement/Repairs
✔ Ascending Aortic Root Procedures
✔ Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
✔ Lung and Lobectomy Procedures
✔ Mediastinoscopy

🔹 Robotic surgery experience preferred but not required

📋 Qualifications

🎓 Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
📜 Active State Medical License preferred
🫀 Strong experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery procedures
💻 Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
📅 Minimum 2 weeks per month availability

🪪 Required Certifications

✅ ACLS Certification (American Heart Association – In-person)
✅ BLS Certification (American Heart Association – In-person)
