I’m supporting a Cardiothoracic Surgery locum opportunity in Minnesota with weekday OR coverage plus shared call at a Level II Trauma Center. This role includes predominantly routine CV cases, structural heart standbys, and clearly defined call-week blocks. Emergency temporary privileges are available for providers with clean files.

Coon Rapids, MN – Cardiothoracic Surgery – Scheduled + Call
Start Date: 3/16/2026 (ASAP start possible with emergency temps)

HIGHLIGHTS
• Level II Trauma Center
• Weekday OR coverage plus 1:3 call rotation
• Emergency temporary privileges available
• Predominantly routine cardiothoracic cases
• MN license or IMLC accepted
• Additional coverage needed beyond priority weeks listed

SCHEDULE
• Monday–Friday: 7:00am–5:00pm
• Call rotation: 1 in 3
• Call weeks include:
– Day shift coverage
– Overnight call (5:00pm–7:00am)
– Weekend 24-hour call

PRIORITY COVERAGE DATES
(More need exists, but these weeks are priority)

• March 16–22
• March 30 – April 5
• April 20–26
• May 4–10

CASE MIX / VOLUME
• CABG & valve procedures (~250/year)
• TAVR / Structural heart standbys (~200/year)
• Mitral clips (~100/year)
• Lead extractions (~35/year)
• Aortic aneurysms and dissections
• Atrial fibrillation surgery
• Cardiac valve repair and replacement
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Congenital heart surgery
• Coronary artery bypass surgery
• LVAD and heart failure surgery
• Minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery
• Thoracoscopic procedures
• Pacemaker procedures
• Esophageal surgery (minimally invasive)
No electrophysiology cases
• Oncology lung cases covered at another facility

DEPARTMENT DETAILS
• Acute care hospital
• Trauma Level II
• Full OR and CV support services
• High procedural and structural heart volume

REQUIREMENTS
• Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Minnesota license or IMLC
• DEA required
• Proficient in cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
• Comfortable rotating call weeks
• Emergency temps available with complete, clean file

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
• Day coverage paid hourly
• 24-hour call, night call, and callback paid separately
• Holiday rate applies per facility guidelines
• No OT
• All-inclusive: No
