Locums - Seattle, Washington, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Job

A hospital-based Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery locum tenens opportunity is available in Seattle, Washington, providing weekend call coverage while the program recruits a permanent thoracic surgeon.

• Start Date: ASAP (pending credentialing), targeting April 1

• Reason for Coverage: Departure of Thoracic Surgeon; coverage needed until replacement is hired

• Setting: Hospital-based

• Coverage: Friday – Sunday, 2 weekends per month

• Call Type: 24-hour call

• Shift Times:

  • Friday 6:00 a.m. – Monday 6:00 a.m.

• Days per Month: 6

• Inpatient and consult call coverage

• Weekend admissions and patient management

• Supervision and collaboration with surgical residents

• Admissions: 1–2 per weekend

• Typical Weekend Census: 6–12 patients

• Types of Cases Include:

  • Pleural disease (empyema, spontaneous pneumothorax)

  • Paraesophageal hernias

  • Esophageal perforations

• Required Procedures:

  • Chest tube insertion

  • Open and thoracoscopic general thoracic surgery

  • Foregut surgery

• Support Staff: PGY-3 / PGY-4 General Surgery Residents

• EMR:

  • Cerner (transitioning to Epic in May)

• Board Certification: ABTS – Required

• Active State License: Required

• DEA: Required

• BLS or ACLS: Required

• Clean Background / Malpractice History: Highly Preferred
