Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery APP provider for locum tenens coverage in Dover, DE. Starting January 2026, this role offers a 3–6 month availability with a competitive market rate and ongoing coverage. Open to licensing new candidates!
The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Role:
Location: Dover, Delaware
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Duration: 3–6 months
Schedule:
- Four weekday shifts per week:
- Two 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shifts
- Two 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM shifts
- Call coverage:
- 1–2 weekday nights (Monday–Thursday, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- 1 in 3 weekends (Friday 7:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Post-operative patient resuscitation in CVSICU
- Respond to stat consults and changes in clinical status
- Assist with emergent OR cases
- Manage nursing and patient calls from home during call periods
- Weekend inpatient rounding
- Perform endoscopic and open vein harvest (EVH) and chest tube placement
- EVH capability (open and endoscopic)
- Ability to manage high-acuity cases independently
EMR: EPIC
Support Staff: Surgeons, APCs, nursing team
Patient Encounters: 10–20 per shift
Requirements:
Active DE license or open to licensing new candidates.
Cardiothoracic/vascular surgery experience
ACLS and BLS certifications
