Position Overview: This locums Cardiothoracic Surgery role provides 24-hour call coverage to support the hospital during PTO. The provider will manage both adult cardiac and general thoracic surgical cases and support full-spectrum perioperative care alongside dedicated CT support staff.
Daily Breakdown / Responsibilities:

Average volume: approximately 2 hearts per week and 2–3 lungs per week (5–6 total procedures)

Scope includes adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and coronary artery bypass
-
Assigned patient population: adult and geriatric
-
Collaboration with CT-NP, CT-PA, and CT rounding nurse
Required Surgical Procedures:

Cardiac / CABG Procedures:

CABG
-
Arterial revascularization (IMA, radial artery, gastroepiploic artery)
-
Redo coronary revascularization (with or without valve surgery)
General Thoracic Procedures:
Tube thoracostomy
Pericardial window
Thoracotomy lung biopsy
Thoracotomy lung resections / pneumonectomy
Thoracotomy decortication
Chest wall resection and reconstruction
Mediastinal surgery, mediastinotomy, and biopsy
Valve Procedures:
Heart valve repair/replacement
CoreValve® (valve replacement without surgery)
Mitral valve repair
