End Date: January 4, 2026 (additional coverage March 14–22, 2026)

Position Overview

Sinai Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeon to provide call-only locum coverage during vacation periods. This role is best suited for local candidates in the Baltimore/DC metro area, as the need is intermittent and focused solely on call responsibilities.

Schedule & Coverage

• Tentative coverage blocks:

  • Dec 20, 2025 – Jan 4, 2026

  • Mar 14–22, 2026

• Call only – 24-hour call shifts (minimal call frequency; a few calls per year)

• Rounding may be required

• No elective OR cases – emergent cases only during coverage

Clinical & Facility Details

• Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Trauma Level II, 480 beds

• EMR: Cerner

• Annual Volume: ~200 cardiac surgery cases, ~4 per week

• Procedures: ABR, AVR (no transplant, no vein harvesting, no robotics required)

• Support: 1 FTE Cardiac Surgeon + 1 PRN surgeon, OR APP, ICU APP

• Dedicated Cardiac ORs (2 available, 1 active at a time)

• Patient Population: Adults, geriatrics

Requirements

• Board Certified – American Board of Thoracic Surgery

• Minimum 1 year experience

• Active Maryland license or IMLC (emergency privileges available in 3–4 weeks)

• ACLS & DEA required

• Familiarity with ventilator and post-op cardiac surgery patient management

• COVID-19 vaccine not required; Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions considered)

• Local candidates strongly preferred
