The Jefferson Sleep Disorders Center and Jefferson Sleep Medicine Network at the Vickie & Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience at Thomas Jefferson University are now accepting applications for a full-time physician with specialty training in sleep medicine at the associate professor or professor academic level. Applicants must have:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certified in sleep medicine and in a primary qualifying specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
  • A minimum of seven to ten years of clinical practice in an AASM-accredited sleep medicine setting
  • A minimum of seven years in a complex medical leadership role, preferably in sleep medicine
  • Experience within an academic or teaching setting, are required.

Primary responsibility for the position:

  • Leadership, supervision, and management, of the Jefferson Sleep Disorders Center; a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, sleep medicine program with ambulatory clinics in Center City Philadelphia and surrounding areas, an inpatient sleep medicine consultation program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, and a 10-bed, state-of-the-art sleep laboratory performing attended polysomnography and home sleep testing.
  • Leadership of the Jefferson Sleep Medicine Network, comprised of sleep medicine programs located in the Jefferson Health enterprise including Abington Hospital, Jefferson Health Northeast, Jefferson Health New Jersey, and Einstein Medical Center.
  • Clinical responsibilities include evaluation and management of sleep-disordered patients and review and interpretation of polysomnographic studies.
  • Academic appointment belongs to the academic department at Sidney Kimmel Medical College that represents the host specialty of the candidate
  • Academic activities include supervision and mentorship for sleep medicine faculty with appointments in departments of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Teaching of medical students, house staff and fellows in sleep medicine, and the development of independent research is expected.

The position reports to the President/CEO of the Farber Institute for Neuroscience and Senior Vice President of Jefferson Enterprise in Neuroscience. Academic reporting is to the Chair of the academic department representing the candidate’s host discipline.
