JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Rheumatologist
• Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time
• Location: East Chicago, IN
• Service Setting: Outpatient and limited inpatient practice
• Schedule: Full-time schedule, Monday–Friday
• On-Call Expectations: 1:4 call rotation, covering a single hospital
• Start Date: Negotiable; credentialing required (90–120 days)
PATIENT POPULATION & SCOPE
• Patient Demographics: Adult
• Average Daily Volume / Census: Varies by outpatient clinic and inpatient consults
• Admissions & Rounding: Included for inpatient cases
• Consults & Follow-Ups: Yes
• Case Mix/Clinical Focus Areas: Rheumatologic conditions including autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders
FACILITY & TEAM DETAILS
• Beds in Department/Unit: Community Hospital (458 beds) with support across system hospitals
• EMR System: Epic
• Specialty Backup: Multispecialty support across medicine and surgical lines
• Support Staff: Nurse practitioner support in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Leadership & Reporting Structure: Reports within physician-led group practice
• Reason for Opening: Program growth and expansion
CREDENTIALING & COMPLIANCE
• Board Requirements: BC/BE in Rheumatology
• DEA & Certifications: Active DEA; BLS/ACLS required
• Credentialing Timeline: 90–120 days

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology
• State License Required: Eligible for Indiana medical license
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates considered
• Additional Requirements: EMR proficiency (Epic); collaborative practice approach
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive rheumatology services in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Diagnose and manage autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders
• Participate in call rotation (1:4) covering single hospital
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and APPs to deliver patient-centered care
• Engage in program development and quality improvement initiatives
