A high-priority locum opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Rheumatologist to provide adult and geriatric rheumatology care in Jackson, Michigan. This role offers a well-balanced schedule combining outpatient clinic coverage with minimal 24-hour hospital call. The on-call burden is light, with only a few consults per week, allowing physicians to maintain a predictable and manageable workflow.
The clinic is located just minutes from the hospital, supported by experienced clinical staff, and utilizes Epic EMR. This position is ideal for rheumatologists seeking continuity of care, procedural variety, and a collegial environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct clinic visits and follow-up consultations
• Perform joint aspirations and corticosteroid injections
• Participate in 24-hour hospital call coverage (light volume)
• Coordinate with hospitalists regarding inpatient consults
• Evaluate hospital patients as needed following clinic hours
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with MA, RN, and front-desk support staff
Qualifications
• Fellowship-trained in Rheumatology
• Active Michigan Medical License
• BLS Certification
• Ability to perform rheumatology procedures including joint injections and aspirations
• Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
• Self-Query NPDB (pulled within the last 30 days at time of presentation)
Working Hours
o 4 × 10-hour shifts or 5 × 8-hour shifts
• On-Call Schedule:
o 24-hour hospital call
o Two weeks per month
o 1:2 call rotation
• Weekend coverage included as part of call rotation
