Rheumatologist
Position Summary
The Rheumatologist provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with rheumatic and autoimmune diseases affecting the joints, muscles, bones, and connective tissues. This role emphasizes long-term disease management, evidence-based treatment, and multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and degenerative rheumatic diseases

Diagnose and treat conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, spondyloarthropathies, vasculitis, gout, and osteoporosis

Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans

Manage chronic disease progression and medication therapy, including biologics and immunomodulators

Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice, such as joint aspirations and injections

Interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and diagnostic testing

Provide outpatient clinic care and inpatient consultative services as applicable

Collaborate with primary care providers and specialty services
-
Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and self-management strategies

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical education initiatives
Practice Setting
-
Outpatient rheumatology clinic
-
Hospital-based inpatient consult coverage as required
-
Schedule and call responsibilities based on practice model
Patient Population
-
Adult patients with acute and chronic rheumatologic conditions
-
Longitudinal disease management and follow-up care
Qualifications
-
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
-
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Pediatrics residency
-
Completion of an accredited Rheumatology fellowship
-
Board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology

Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state

DEA registration or eligibility
