Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rheumatologist to join our esteemed healthcare team in the Houma, LA area. As a Rheumatologist, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and managing patients with rheumatic diseases, providing comprehensive care in an outpatient setting. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of healthcare professionals within a stable and reputable hospital system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and diagnose patients with a variety of rheumatic conditions, including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, gout, and fibromyalgia.
  2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines and best practices in rheumatology, incorporating pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
  3. Provide ongoing management and monitoring of chronic rheumatic diseases, including medication adjustments, disease activity assessments, and coordination of care with primary care physicians and other specialists as needed.
  4. Perform joint injections, aspirations, and other office-based procedures relevant to rheumatology practice, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, and infusion clinic staff, to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with complex rheumatic conditions.
  6. Participate in the management and oversight of the infusion clinic, working alongside another Rheumatologist to ensure safe and efficient delivery of biologic and infusion therapies.
  7. Educate patients and their families about their rheumatic conditions, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and self-management strategies to enhance their quality of life and promote optimal health outcomes.
  8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical outcomes in electronic health records, in compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Rheumatology.
  • Active medical license in the state of Louisiana, with eligibility for hospital privileges if required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases, with a focus on evidence-based practice and patient-centered care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a compassionate and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care with a focus on patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical excellence.
  • Prior experience working in an outpatient rheumatology practice preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary of $275,000 annually, with the opportunity for additional compensation through RVU-based bonuses.
  • Sign-on bonus of $25,000 and relocation assistance of $10,000, both negotiable based on candidate's needs.
