Job description
Oversees medical education activities of the OB/GYN Residency Program. Ensures the administration and direction of these training programs in accordance with appropriate requirements, standards and regulations. Reviews the quality, adequacy and appropriateness of services within the department.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Oversees resident recruitment, evaluation and promotion.
- Supervises and teaches residents and medical students.
- Regularly reviews the quality of resident education and makes changes as necessary. Improves resident curriculum.
- Develops and administers department continuing education programs. Participates in the education of house staff and Medical Staff continuing education activities.
- Chairs the Education Committee within the Department of OB/GYN.
- Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
- Participates in research and other scholarly activities.
- Performs as a voting member of the Medical Education Committee for York Hospital.
- Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
- Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Performs other related duties as identified.

Minimum Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
- 5 years Experience as clinician, administrator and educator. Required and
- Experience in ambulatory primary health care for women. Required
- Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
- Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required
- Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN or the American Osteopathic Board of OB/GYN. Upon Hire Required and
- Subspecialty certification if applicable. Upon Hire Required and
- Completion of an OB/GYN residency. Upon Hire Required and
- Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital. Upon Hire Required
- Completion of a subspecialty fellowship. Upon Hire Preferred
- Teaching skills.
