Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Diagnostic Radiologist to provide high-volume weekend onsite coverage in a busy inpatient and emergency department setting in Long Beach. This role is ideal for a body/general radiologist comfortable reading a broad mix of studies, including ER cases and some pediatric trauma, with an emphasis on CT and plain films. Prostate imaging experience is highly preferred.
This is a scheduled, no-call weekend opportunity with competitive hourly pay, hospital-based support staff, and Epic EMR.
Job Responsibilities
Emergency Department imaging (including trauma)
Some pediatric trauma/MRI/CT coverage during weekend ED shifts
Read all studies generated during the assigned shift with no carryover to the next radiologist
Maintain high-quality, timely interpretations in a busy, high-volume environment
Participate in onsite system setup and training prior to first weekend shift (2 weekday daytime shifts required)
Collaborate with onsite radiologists and hospital support staff to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
Active, unrestricted California medical license (required)
DEA license (required)
BLS or ACLS certification (required)
Minimum 1+ year of post-training experience
Comfortable with high-volume weekend workloads
Prostate imaging experience strongly preferred
Ability to read everything coming through the ER, including pediatric trauma cases
Must be available for at least one weekend per month (two or more weekends preferred)
Working Hours
Shifts: 2 × 10-hour day shifts
Days: Saturday & Sunday
Hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Onsite only
Start Date: ASAP (pending credentialing)
Contract Length: 13+ weeks
Credentialing Timeframe: ~30+ days
Weekend shifts are high volume. Another radiologist is onsite from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Additional shorter shifts may occasionally be available, but the primary need is full 10-hour weekend coverage.
Skills
High efficiency in CT and plain film interpretation
Comfort with mixed adult and pediatric ED cases
Ability to manage 150–180 reads per weekend day
Experience working in Epic EMR
Excellent diagnostic accuracy, clinical judgment, and time management
Adaptability in a fast-paced inpatient hospital environment
