Position Type: Full-Time Physician – Medical Physicist (Radiation Oncology)
Overview
An excellent opportunity for a Board Eligible or Board Certified Medical Physicist to join a collaborative Radiation Oncology Department. This full-time role ensures safe therapeutic radiological physics services, top-tier patient care, and teaching contributions while working with a well-supported interdisciplinary team.
Practice Highlights
• Clinic-based practice – 40 hours per week, no weekends
• On-call schedule: 1:2
• Start Date: ASAP
• Advanced therapies available: SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D Conformal
• 2 Linear Accelerators: TomoTherapy Hi-Art & Varian TrueBeam
• Treatment Planning Software: Eclipse and Tomoplan | Record & Verify: Aria
• Team Structure: 2 Physicists, 2 Dosimetrists, 8 Radiation Therapists, 3 RNs, and strong admin/clinical support staff
• Daily Volume: ~35 patients across 2 machines
• Participate in QA (patient-specific, chart, linear accelerator), plan checks, calibrations, commissioning, and implementation of new technologies
• Close collaboration with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, Therapists, and Medical Oncology colleagues
Candidate Requirements
• MS or PhD in Radiology/Radiological Sciences – Required
• US Board Eligible (with plan to become Certified) or Board Certified (ABR/ABMP) – Required
• Iowa Radiation Therapy Physicist Registration – Required (or willingness to obtain)
• Iowa License (or willingness to obtain) – Required
• Clean malpractice history – Required
• Visa support: Open to H1B and J1 candidates
• Open to 2025 residency graduates who will be Board Eligible at completion
• Not open to Locum, 1099, or long-distance commuting candidates
• Not accepting candidates with lapsed Board Certification
Schedule & Coverage
• Full-time: 40 hours/week
• On-call: 1:2
• No weekends
• Credentialing required prior to start
