We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Physician for a locums opportunity in a hospital-based imaging department. This role offers hands-on procedural work with a collaborative support team and a focus on patient-centered care.
🔹 Shift: Day, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday
🔹 Schedule: 2 weeks per month, onsite, no call
🔹 Patient Volume: 6–10 procedures per day
🔹 EMR: Epic
🔹 Hospital Beds: 76
👶🧓 Patient Population: All ages – neonates to geriatrics
🛠️ Procedures Include:
- Paracentesis & thoracentesis
- Line placement and removal
- Biopsies and abscess drainage
- Lumbar punctures & myelograms
- Optional diagnostic imaging interpretation
👥 Support Staff: Nurses, Techs, and Radiology Assistants (RRA)
Job Responsibilities
Perform interventional procedures including paracentesis, thoracentesis, line placement/removal, biopsies, abscess drainage, lumbar punctures, and myelograms
Optionally interpret diagnostic imaging as needed
Provide patient-centered care across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics
Collaborate with nurses, techs, and radiology assistants to ensure safe and efficient procedures
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards
Participate in credentialing or privileging processes as required for hospital privileges
Qualifications
Board Certified in Interventional Radiology
Active Pennsylvania Medical License
DEA Registration required
IR Fellowship preferred, or equivalent training/experience in interventional procedures
Experience with Epic EMR
Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of interventional radiology procedures safely and efficiently
Working Hours
Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Schedule: 2 weeks per month
Onsite coverage only, no call
Focused procedural time with support from nursing and radiology staff
Skills
Expertise in interventional radiology procedures (lines, biopsies, drainage, paracentesis, thoracentesis, LPs, myelograms)
Ability to interpret diagnostic imaging (preferred)
Strong clinical decision-making in procedural settings
Proficiency in Epic EMR documentation
Effective teamwork and communication with nurses, techs, and radiology assistants
Ability to manage patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics
Excellent time management and procedural efficiency skills
