Locums – Rockford, Illinois – Interventional Radiologist Job

• Reason for need: New position

• Start date: June 2026

The Interventional Radiologist will perform a wide range of image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. The department manages a diverse procedural mix including biopsies, drainage procedures, vascular access, GI, GU, and oncology-related interventions.

Common Procedures May Include:

• CT and ultrasound-guided biopsies (lung, thyroid, renal, liver, bone, lymph node, bone marrow)

• Drain placements and management (abscess drains, chest tubes, drain exchanges)

• Biliary procedures

• GI and GU procedures

• Vascular procedures and access

• Hemodialysis access procedures

• Oncology-related interventional procedures

Providers will work closely with referring physicians, hospital teams, and procedural staff to deliver comprehensive interventional radiology services.

Requirements:

• Active Illinois medical license required

• IMLC not accepted

• Clean background required

• Providers will be cross-credentialed at another nearby hospital

Schedule:

• 20+ shifts per month

• Consecutive shifts preferred

• Clinic: 8–10 hours onsite followed by night call

• 24-hour call on weekends

Main Hospital Coverage:

• 4 onsite weekday shifts (Monday–Friday) – Diagnostic Radiology

  • 1 Mammography

  • 1 Fluoroscopy

  • 2 General Diagnostic

• 2 onsite weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday) – Diagnostic Radiology

• 1 Overnight shift – Diagnostic

• 1 Interventional shift – 24-hour call (Interventional Radiology)

Second Hospital Coverage:

• 1 onsite weekday shift (Monday–Friday) – Diagnostic Radiology

  • Mammography and Fluoroscopy

• Saturday & Sunday: Remote reads supported by the other hospital’s team
