Lead with Purpose | Lead Interventional Radiologist
Are you a builder who wants to design and lead a modern Interventional Radiology service line instead of just inheriting someone else’s playbook? A large, not for profit health system in the Southeast is seeking a visionary Lead Interventional Radiologist to build and grow a comprehensive hospital based IR program for a multi hospital network. The Opportunity
- Lead the development of a full spectrum, hospital-based IR service line for a large regional health system with a broad referral base and growing demand for advanced procedures.
- Step into a setting with experienced nurses and technologists, and engaged APPs, and help reshape workflows so physicians are in the driver’s seat while APPs support access, efficiency, and patient experience.
- Partner directly with senior clinical and operational leaders, to define strategy, case mix, consult pathways, and APP roles across multiple hospitals.
- Collaborate with referring services including surgery, oncology, nephrology, and cardiology to ensure that complex and bread and butter procedures are captured appropriately within IR.
- Help shape the roadmap for future outpatient and procedural center development as the system moves more IR services into ambulatory settings.
Inpatient focused, hospital-based IR across a broad case mix that may include:
- Oncologic interventions such as ablations and embolizations.
- Dialysis access and maintenance.
- Biliary interventions and nephrostomies.
- Portal hypertension interventions including TIPS.
- Uterine fibroid embolization.
- Trauma related IR work.
- Venous and other bread and butter IR procedures
Equitable IR call rotation within the employed group, supported by a separate diagnostic radiology team so you can focus primarily on interventional work.
Leadership Expectations
- Serve as the architect of the IR service line and a visible leader for IR across the system.
- Standardize clinical pathways, consult processes, and scheduling models in partnership with administrative and clinical leaders.
- Realign APP responsibilities toward a supportive, efficiency enhancing role while preserving engagement and collaboration.
- Build trust with a separate diagnostic radiology partner and procedural colleagues while advocating for IR growth and appropriate case capture.
- Mentor future staff IR physicians and help cultivate a culture that is collaborative, low drama, and focused on patient care and long-term success.
- Fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology, with board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology or IR DR.
- At least two to five years of post fellowship experience in a hospital-based IR setting preferred.
- Comfortable with both complex and bread and butter IR procedures and interested in both inpatient and future outpatient work.
- Builder mindset with the temperament to navigate a program in transition, multiple stakeholders, and evolving outpatient plans.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership, referring clinicians, APPs, and IR staff.
- Competitive guaranteed compensation in the high six figure range, aligned with fair market value for experienced IR leaders.
- Additional incentive opportunities tied to quality, citizenship, and program development goals.
- Professional fee reimbursement, CME support, and comprehensive health and welfare benefits consistent with other employed physicians in the system.
- Live in a vibrant, fast growing lakefront community in the Southeast within an easy drive of metro Atlanta and its international airport.
- Enjoy year-round outdoor recreation on one of the region’s premier recreational lakes, along with nearby foothills and mountain trails for hiking, cycling, and weekend getaways.
- Benefit from a strong sense of community, with highly engaged neighborhoods, youth sports, civic organizations, and faith communities.
- Take advantage of an expanding restaurant and brewery scene, local arts center, concerts, and festivals that draw visitors from across the region.
- Choose from a range of housing options, from lakefront and golf course communities to historic in town neighborhoods and traditional suburban settings, with a cost of living that remains attractive compared to many other Atlanta area suburbs.
- Access respected public and private schools, as well as nearby colleges and universities that contribute to the area’s energy, workforce, and cultural offerings
