CHI St. Alexius (Bismarck, ND)
CHI St. Alexius is seeking a locum Interventional Radiologist to provide general IR coverage. Coverage includes weekday onsite shifts and call responsibilities. Ongoing dates are expected to begin in early 2026.
Schedule & Coverage

Weekday onsite coverage typically 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
-
Evening call from 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM
-
24-hour call coverage on weekends
-
Average of 10–15 procedures per onsite day
-
Callback is primarily for emergency cases
-
No diagnostic reading required between IR cases

Hospital-based practice

EMR: Epic
-
Reason for coverage: Temporary gap while current locum provider is on leave
Required Procedures
Providers must have experience performing general interventional radiology procedures, including but not limited to:

Diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventions
-
Angiography, angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and embolization
-
Vascular access procedures including PICC lines, central lines, and port placements
-
IVC filter placement and TIPS procedures
-
Drainage and aspiration procedures
-
Needle biopsies (above and below diaphragm and bone)
-
Biliary and renal extractions
-
Thoracentesis and paracentesis
-
Myelography and pain management procedures
-
Vertebroplasty and joint/epidural injections
-
Chest tube placement
-
Uterine artery embolization
-
Liver Y90/TACE procedures
-
Gastrostomy tube placement
-
Nephrostomy and ureteral stent placement
-
Cryoablation and fistulograms
Stroke thrombectomy capability is preferred but not required.
Requirements
-
Board Certification required
-
North Dakota medical license or IMLC eligibility required
-
Completion of residency/fellowship required
-
ACLS and BLS certifications required
-
Clean malpractice history preferred
-
Providers must complete and submit a procedure competency checklist
-
NPDB self-query report dated within 30 days of submission
-
Availability required at time of name clear
Credentialing

Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days

North Dakota licensure and full credentialing required prior to start
Travel

Travel and lodging available in accordance with guidelines

Open to providers requiring air travel
