Physician – Cardiothoracic Surgeon- Cooperstown, NY

Overview:

Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive, academic health system in central New York and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking to recruit a fellowship trained Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our staff at Bassett Medical Center located in Cooperstown, NY.

The faculty practice consists of 15 cardiologists, 2 cardiac surgeons, and 18 advanced practice clinicians. The Bassett network includes over 500 employed practitioners serving Central New York and New York’s Leatherstocking Regions.

Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated health care system that provides care and service to people living in an eight county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school-based health centers, and health partners in related fields.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

Bassett performs 125 major cardiac surgical cases annually including CABG, valve, and aortic surgeries. Our catheterization lab averages 600 PCI cases and about 75 TAVRs yearly. This position would involve performing primarily cardiac surgical cases and covering the inpatient census with the APC team. Participating on the Structural Heart team weekly as the covering surgeon for TAVRs and Watchman procedures, as well as Thoracic cased if interested, depending on experience. Cardiac surgical results have consistently met or exceeded both state and national quality standards as monitored by the NYS and STS Databases. To include:

• One week per month Monday-Sunday
• Work with a dedicated team of Cardiologists and APCs in a collegial environment.
• Primary cardiac surgical OR, 3 cath labs and a Hybrid OR
• Cardiac Surgery team consists of 6 CT Surgery APCs who provide 24/7 in-house coverage for the CT surgical service
• Salary Range: $780,000 - $900,000. This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards
• Bassett offers Physicians an incentive plan with no earnings cap. Individual performance and productivity can significantly enhance compensation with potential upside realized within the first year of employment.
• Sign-on bonus up to $200,000

Job Qualifications:

• MD/DO
• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• New York State Licensure
• BLS/ACLS Certification Required
• DEA Required
