Job description General SummaryAssists in the operation of the Pulmonary Services Department. Provides medical care to patients. Assists in the review of the quality, adequacy and appropriateness of services within the department.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Performs bronchoscopy procedures.Assists with the establishment and maintenance of department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessmentprograms, safety, environmental and infection control standards.Identifies patient and/or provider needs and develops quality programs to meet those needs. Ensures delivery of qualityservices for patients.Participates in the development and administration of department continuing education programs. Participates in theeducation of house staff, School of Respiratory Therapy students and Medical Staff continuing education activities.Provides clinical supervision to appropriate physician and non-physician staff within the department.Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.Oversees the activities of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and the respiratory therapy program in area nursing homes.Common Expectations:Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning theimpact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, aswell as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvementand innovation.Required for All Jobs:Performs other related duties as identified.WellSpan Health has adopted and implemented a compliance program to support WellSpan's values and standards for professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
