Locums – Slidell, Louisiana, Internal Medicine - Pulmonary Disease and Critical Job (IMLC Accepted) Start Date

Schedule & Coverage

• October 23–25

• December 28–January 1

• 1 weekend every other month thereafter

• Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM

• 24-hour call with 8 hours of patient contact included

• Local/drive-in candidates preferred

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine – Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine

• Fellowship required

• Active Louisiana license required or IMLC accepted

• ACLS certification required

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: 120 days

EMR

• Epic

Hospital & ICU

• Hospital size: 162 beds

• ICU: 30 beds

• Step-down: 24 beds

• Open ICU model

• More than 95% of patients are admitted to Hospital Medicine

• The remaining small percentage are admitted by proceduralists for elective cases, such as CABG

• High-acuity site with well-established services and significant support coverage

Pulmonary & Critical Care Volume

• Approximately 18 combined Pulmonary/Critical Care consults per day

• No APPs

• Patients requiring ICU-level care are admitted to the main campus

• Pulmonary/Critical Care is preferred as first call for central lines and intubations on admitted patients during daytime hours

• Trialysis line placement is included in central line placement under the Delineation of Privileges

Emergency Department

• Approximately 170 patients per day across 2 EDs located approximately 1.5 miles apart

• Admission rate: approximately 28–30%

• Minimum of double physician coverage in the ED 24/7

• Typically 3+ providers

Additional Support & Coverage

• Hospitalists in-house 24/7, including both MDs and APPs

• 24/7 coverage available from:

  • Cardiothoracic Surgery

  • Vascular Surgery

  • Interventional Cardiology

  • Anesthesia

  • General Surgery

• Vascular Surgery, Anesthesia, and General Surgery are available 24/7 for additional backup if needed
