Position Type: Locum Physician – Pulmonary Critical Care

Overview

Opportunity for a Board-Certified or Eligible Pulmonary Critical Care Physician to join a busy inpatient practice in Davenport, IA. This is a long-term locum role starting January 2026, with comprehensive critical care procedures and strong NP support.

Practice Highlights

  • Start Date: January 2026 – Ongoing

  • Setting: Inpatient, ICU, Call, Rounding, Admitting

  • Call Ratio: 1:4

  • Patient Load:
    • ~18 ICU patients/day (with NP support)
    • ~10 non-ICU inpatients/day (with NP support)
    • ~3–5 admissions/day

  • Trauma Level: III

  • Beds: 300 total | 20 ICU beds

  • Group: 3 Critical Care Physicians (4th starting in 2025)

  • Other Coverage: No additional critical care physician on-site during locum shifts

  • EMR: Cerner

Required Procedures

  • Ventilation Management: Invasive (ETT/NT/Tracheostomy), Non-Invasive (BiPAP/CPAP)

  • Insertions: Central Line, Arterial Line

  • Diagnostic/Therapeutic Taps: Paracentesis, Thoracentesis

  • Procedures: Chest Tube Insertion, Bronchoscopy, BAL, Pulmonary Function Testing, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), ION

  • Clinical Focus: Asthma, COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Pneumonia, Pulmonary Nodules, Sarcoidosis, Pulmonary Vascular Disease

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certified (Pulmonary Critical Care) or Board Eligible – Required

  • IA License or Active IMLC (LOQ at submission) – Required

  • Clean Background – Required

  • Fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care – Required (EBUS + ION proficiency preferred)

  • ACLS + Critical Care Procedures – Required

  • Availability: At least 1 full week/month ongoing – Required

Schedule & Coverage

  • Inpatient rounding, admissions, call coverage

  • Call: 1:4 rotation

  • Credentialing timeframe: ~60 days

  • Note: Facility will not confirm shifts until MSO confirms application file is 100% complete
